Rejuvenation (Boceto series)

Artists are intimately aware of the crucial time we live in, continuously attempting to visually capture that ambiguous, non-linear space between beginnings and endings. Tying his spiritual knowledge to the knowledge of the world, Lawrence Cervantes returns to Galerie Stephanie with “Rejuvenation”. In this series, Cervantes depicts the cycle of destruction to restoration--a continuation from his evolving narratives in his past solo exhibitions “Origins”, “Take Over”, and “Reset”. Breathing vigor and life on previously somber canvases, the twenty artworks humbly presented in Rejuvenation depict Cervantes' subjects’ rituals and reflective reverence--a visual breather amidst a world beyond our limited understanding.

Lawrence Cervantes (b. 1993) is one of a number of young artists from Bulacan making waves in the art scene. Under the guidance of longtime social realist Renato Habulan, Lawrence has joined various group exhibitions in local contemporary galleries since 2012. In 2018, he was one of the eight young artists awarded the Tuklas Residency Program, a yearlong mentorship program under artists Habulan and Alfredo Esquillo. Lawrence acquired his Fine Arts degree from the Bulacan State University (BSU) and is currently taking up graduate studies in Education majoring in Arts and Management at La Consolacion University. Rejuvenation is Lawrence’s sixth solo exhibition.
