Dimensions of Fragility
The word “courage” stems from the Latin 'cor', and the old French word ‘corage’ meaning heart or innermost feelings. But in a time of widespread unrest and uncertainty, showing vulnerability is considered akin to weakness. More than catharsis, the former is essential in the artistic process--the more invulnerable and resilient humanity insists on trying to become, the more earnest and open it must necessarily be.
Conveying the message in the medium, Dimensions of Fragility showcases four women artists specializing in diverse methods and techniques. Embracing their relationships with the fragile nature of the human condition, Clarissa Gonzalez, Kat Grow, Genavee Lazaro, and Ev Yu attempt to confront the vulnerability of the physical aspects and allegorical connotations of the materials that they use.
